Before payment / family of five / exact room check

Make the room prove it sleeps all five

Do not stop at “family-friendly,” two queen beds or a large-looking photo. Match the exact room, its published occupancy and one sleeping place for every traveler.

A room passes only when three answers agree

Registration: the exact room accepts five. Sleeping: every person has an identified bed, sofa, bunk or confirmed extra bed. Transaction: the same room and all five guests remain on the final booking page.

The five checks before payment

Run them in order. A failure at an early step makes the later price comparison meaningless.

1

Copy the exact room name

KEEP THE SKU

Record the complete suite, apartment or room label and any room code.

A hotel name, “family room” or “two queens” cannot preserve the product through another channel.

2

Find the room-level maximum

COUNT REGISTERED GUESTS

Use the occupancy attached to that room, not the apparent mattress area.

A maximum-four result stops that room. It does not automatically reject every room at the property.

3

Assign every sleeping place

WHO SLEEPS WHERE?

Name the fixed beds, sofa bed, bunks or rollaway and assign all five travelers.

“Sleeps five” can still mean the fifth person uses a sofa, and a maximum of six does not promise six fixed beds.

4

Search with the complete party

RESTORE AGES

Enter both adults, all three children and their ages.

After every redirect, check the header again. A property page that resets to two adults is no longer testing your family.

5

Match the final room and terms

PAY ONLY AFTER MATCH

The room name, guest count and sleeping condition must still agree when the total and cancellation terms appear.

After purchase, compare the confirmation record separately; this pre-payment check does not replace it.

The photo is not the contract

Picture a room with enough mattress space. Two adults take one bed and three children squeeze into another. That may work as a sleeping plan, but it does not change the room's registered occupancy or add a fifth person to the reservation.

The reliable question is not “could we physically fit?” but “does this exact room accept five, and does the booking still contain the sleeping plan we chose?”

Illustrative scenario: an invented example of a typical booking problem, not a report of a real stay.

Five-person rooms can pass for different reasons

The room maximum and sleeping plan must be read together.

A useful result can still be “stop”

Rejecting the wrong room before payment is a successful decision, not a failed search.

The room changes

Do not transfer occupancy or beds from the recommended room to a substitute at the same hotel.

The party changes

Re-enter everyone before interpreting inventory, price or cancellation terms.

The fifth bed becomes a request

Decide whether the trip can tolerate that uncertainty before paying.

The exact room stays intact

Only then compare the total, payment timing and cancellation deadline.

Take the next question to the right page

This checklist stops at the point where a specific room condition needs a deeper answer.

Two queen beds

Check whether the fifth person is excluded, conditional or already included.

Read the occupancy rule

Sofa bed or rollaway

Decide whether the fifth sleeping place is part of the room or a separate request.

Compare the bed products

The search changed

Diagnose a reset party, a two-room result or a direct-only suite.

The booking is complete

Audit the confirmation while the selected room and terms are still easy to retrieve.

Start with one exact room, not a hotel promise

Choose a destination shortlist, carry the complete party into the room page and stop whenever the room identity changes.

Quick answers

What are the five checks before payment?

Copy the exact room name, find the room-level maximum, assign every sleeping place, search with the complete party, and match the final room and terms.

Does a maximum of four rule out the whole hotel?

No. A maximum-four result stops that room only; other room types at the same property can differ.

Does 'sleeps five' mean five fixed beds?

Not necessarily. The fifth person may use a sofa, and a maximum of six does not promise six fixed beds.
