If this is you
You have just paid. The email says “Confirmed”, but the room name looks shorter than the one you chose, and you cannot see where the connecting rooms, the rollaway or the crib are written down. You want to know, before you travel, that five people really are booked into the room you meant.
This is the after-payment check. For the before-payment version, see how to verify a room sleeps five.
Eight checks on the confirmation
The right-hand column shows why each check matters, using dated facts from pages on this site.
| # | Check | What it should show | Why (dated examples) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Room name | Matches the room you chose, word for word, including the code if one is shown. | At the JW Marriott, the 2 Bedroom Suite with Pool View (SU2B0030) is max 10 and the Family Suite (SU2B0025) is max 8; two suite names also differ only by “Balcony”. |
| 2 | Guests | All five guests, with the children's ages, not a default of one or two. | Room limits are per room type (the max-5 Residence Inn ONQQ and the max-3 one-king suites sit in the same hotel), so check that all five guests were entered. |
| 3 | Maximum | The maximum for that exact room is at least five, and matches the record. | Staybridge Royale Parc (IHG hotel page): the 2 Bedroom Suite with 1 king and 2 queens is max 8; its 2 Queen 1 Bedroom Suite is max 6. |
| 4 | Fifth bed | Your plan for the fifth person is named: listed bed, sofa bed or rollaway. | A rollaway is not permitted in every room: Residence Inn ONQQ and the Westin two-bed rooms say not permitted. |
| 5 | Special requests | Connecting rooms, rollaway and crib are recorded as requests, not shown as part of the room. | Hyatt says it cannot guarantee connecting rooms without advance notice; its Pack N' Plays are “not guaranteed”. |
| 6 | Fees and totals | Taxes and every fee line are listed; the parking and resort-fee wording matches what you were told. | Orange Lake: IHG calls parking “complimentary” while the resort says it is “included in your resort fee”; The Bayard (hotel page): booking steps list an “Urban Fee” (amount not recorded). |
| 7 | Cancellation | The deadline and the rule for the rate you booked, with the date and time. | Bayard's “Every Day Rate” wording, read for the One-Bedroom Queen Apartment sample only: full refund up to 2 days before arrival, then 100% of the booking amount; the wording belongs to that rate, was shown for a sample search (Nov 10-11, 2026, 1 adult), and may differ for other rates and dates. |
| 8 | Check-in | Check-in time, and the age of the person who registers the room, are acceptable. | Listed minimum check-in ages are 18 at some Staybridge hotels and 21 at others, and 21 at Holiday Inn Club Vacations Orange Lake (IHG directions page, October 17, 2026). If the person registering is younger, ask the hotel before travelling (see the suite-or-rooms article). |
If something is wrong
- Write down what the confirmation says and what you expected, with the page or screenshot you booked from.
- Check the cancellation rule on the confirmation before you change anything: the rule belongs to the rate, and the pages we read do not give one rule for all hotels.
- Contact the hotel in writing. Ask for the correction and for a written reply naming the room, the guests and any request that is noted.
- If the room cannot hold five, ask for a room whose published maximum does (see the list of rooms for 5 or 6).
These steps are our suggestion, not a hotel or booking-site rule. How a booking site handles an error is not covered here.

Quick answers
When should I check my booking confirmation?
The same day, in our view, while the booking can still be fixed. Cancellation rules belong to the rate, as the Bayard's Every Day Rate wording shows.
Does “confirmed” mean the connecting rooms or the rollaway are confirmed?
Not by itself. Hyatt Regency Times Square says it cannot guarantee connecting rooms without advance notice, and the Westin pages we read say connecting rooms are available “for some rooms”. Check that the request is written in the confirmation.
What if the room name on the confirmation is shorter than the one I chose?
Compare it with the record: names can differ by one word, such as the JW Marriott suite with “Balcony”, and Residence Inn's one-king suites have a lower maximum than ONQQ. Ask the hotel to confirm the exact room in writing.
Does the confirmation show the total with every fee?
Check it. Orange Lake's resort says parking is included in its resort fee, while IHG calls parking complimentary; Bayard's booking steps list an Urban Fee. Ask the hotel which fees apply.
